What We Believe

At Christ Community Church, we have an evangelical understanding of the ancient creeds of the Church.

There are some less important things that distinguish us from some other churches.

We are evangelical because we believe it is important to share the good news that God wants to restore His relationship with humanity. That is possible for everyone who believes that Jesus died and rose again to destroy the power of sin and death. His is the only name by which anyone can be saved.

You may find us distinctive from other some other evangelical churches in our belief that the Holy Spirit continues to operate in the life of the Church through all of the same gifts mentioned in the New Testament. Because the Greek word for these gifts is charismata, we are usually referred to as a charismatic church.

While we believe it is important to know that we are saved from separation from God, we believe that is only part of the good news. We are also saved to a life of service in God's kingdom, as Christ is formed in us, healing us, renewing us and changing us to reflect His glory.

We have no Statement of Faith beyond the Nicene Creed.

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible;
And in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Only-begotten,
Begotten of the Father before all ages,
God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God,
Begotten, not made, of one essence with the Father,
by Whom all things were made:
Who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven,
and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and was made man;
And was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered and was buried;
And the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures;
And ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father;
And He shall come again with glory to judge the living and the dead,
Whose kingdom shall have no end.
And I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, and Giver of Life,
Who proceeds from the Father,
Who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified,
Who spoke by the Prophets;
And I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins.
I look for the Resurrection of the dead,
And the Life of the world to come. Amen.
